Doug Pederson officially announced in his press conference today that cornerback Aaron Grymes has been elevated to the Eagles 53-man roster.

Grymes was waived by the team with an injury settlement during the final preseason cuts. Grymes suffered a separation of his AC joint in his shoulder after securing an endzone interception versus the Pittsburgh Steelers, but was resigned to the Eagles practice squad following the injury of Ron Brooks.

With Josh Huff being released, the Eagles once again had an open spot on the roster..and this time it was the preseason standout who got the call.

Formerly of the Edmonton Eskimos, Grymes had 8 interceptions during his three year career in the CFL, with 4 of them coming in 2015. According to Bleacher Report he ran a 4.6 40-yard dash time in 2013. The defensive back recorded a total of 101 tackles during his time with the Eskimos, 43 of them accumulated in his career year in 2015.

Prior to his CFL career, Grymes played for Idaho College and eventually  worked out with the Cardinals and the Titans back in January. This led to his arrival in Philadelphia, before impressing the Coaching staff consistently throughout Training camp. From interceptions to some hard hits, it was clear his experience in a professional Football League paid dividends as he soared up the depth chart. Grymes made his presence felt on the field during preseason as well, making several big plays and attracting attention.

The Eagles are extremely light on depth at cornerback so it’s likely that both himself and fellow undrafted rookie C.J Smith could see some action against the high-flying Falcons.
