Report: Eagles shopping numerous Offensive Linemen

It’s been a busy day for the Philadelphia Eagles..from trading cornerback Eric Rowe to the Patriots only to then see Josh Kline taken out of the deal, there has been plenty of movement..but it doesn’t look like the wheeling and dealing is going to stop anytime soon.

Jason La Canfora reported recently that the Eagles were shopping Taylor Hart prior to the roster cuts and were expected to be very active in the trade market. Today, those reports have intensified.

The Eagles have eleven Offensive linemen on their roster, Kline would have been the 12th. With Lane Johnson’s potential 10-game suspension still hanging in the balance, there is a lot of uncertainty on the Eagles O-line, but also a lot of depth.

After Kline’s career in Philadelphia ended in the same legendary vain as Frank Gore, the Eagles seem intent on shifting some depth. It’s also no coincidence that while Andrews is listed as a C/G, Stefen Wisniewski saw plenty of backup center snaps throughout the summer.

Josh Andrews signed with the Eagles as a rookie free agent in 2014 and went on to play in 13 games a season later. The Oregon State alumni made the 53-man roster, but may not be on it for much longer.

Interestingly, La Canfora notes that the Eagles have also been shopping Stefen Wisniewski. “Wis” signed a one-year deal with the team during free agency, expecting to compete for the starting LG spot. Instead, he is listed on the most recent depth chart as the backup center, ahead of Josh Andrews.

Whether the Eagles are looking to swap out a center for another guard (considering that both tackle spots are three men deep) or not is another question..but one which could explain why they showed intent to bring in Kline. Kline didn’t practice today and it’s been reported that the Patriots planned on releasing him anyway..meaning the Eagles could be planning to sign him as a free-agent or just simply couldn’t find a trade partner for the guard who allowed a lot of pressure to reach Tom Brady a season ago.

Eliot Shorr-Parks noted that the Eagles could be looking to add another skill player, if the narrative wasn’t already deep enough..but keeping an eye on what direction the Eagles take will certainly be interesting.
