As the days go by and the speculation grows, it seems as though the Eagles are veering towards Doug Pederson to become their new Head Coach despite Ben McAdoo reportedly leading the race.

In a recent interview with Jeff McLane from the Philadelphia Inquirer, Pederson had this to say about his meeting with the Eagles front office when asked how the interview in Philly went. You can read the full piece here. (All interview quotes taken from this article.)

“Gosh, it went great,” “It was a great opportunity to see Howie again and Mr. Lurie – just a chance to talk with them and sit down with them. I got a lot of respect for the organization and what they’re doing there. But now we’re focused on New England and that’s behind me and we’re moving forward.”

Pederson can’t actually be hired until the Chiefs season officially ends which would explain why not only the Eagles have halted their interview process but why they have not hired someone by now. In the interview with McLane, Pederson went on to say

“It is because we have a big game this week,” “You never know what’s going to happen in those situations. It’s an honor to be in the running, I guess, with something like that. But I was also sitting there towards the end of the interview going, ‘I got the New England Patriots to look at.’ “

Interestingly, Pederson hasn’t interviewed for ANY of the remaining  HC openings in the NFL.  If McAdoo truly is the front runner as Schefter claimed earlier, why haven’t the birds offered him a contract? All signs are pointing towards Pederson although the decision to not pursue McDermott remains questionable at best.
