Four Eagles players sidelined in Wednesday’s practice

The Eagles have sustained a lot of injuries over recent weeks and whilst none are season ending..they have sidelined some key pieces in big games when the team needed them most. With training for Monday Night Football now well underway, four players were listed as absent in todays activities with the first being Nelson Agholor.

The USC rookie left the Saints game early and has not practiced since. Agholor was reported to undergo an MRI on Monday but there have been no further developments on the injury. The receiver did originally claim that the injury was nothing serious, but it appears he could be doubtful for Monday Night. The emergence of Josh Huff against the Saints is a promising sign for Chip Kelly, Huff is almost the perfect blend of Agholor’s route running and Cooper’s physical ability. Agholor’s sheer pace would be a setback but we’re predicting that the speedster will be a “gameday decision” based on the information we have heard and how he has reacted in press conferences.

Bleeding Green Nation have also reported that the receiver was supposedly limping at the Novacare today..but Byron Maxwell struggled to run at full speed last week and came out to play one of his best games in an Eagles jersey so I wouldn’t dwell on that too much.

Linebackers Kiko Alonso and Mychal Kendricks were also absent in todays activities. Alonso is still nursing a knee injury that many feared to be a re-injury of his ACL. After what appeared to be a sprain, Alonso has been sidelined since the week two loss to Dallas. Kendricks is in a similar situation but is said to be “day to day” in coming back from his hamstring injury. The good news for the Eagles however is that Jordan Hicks and company have been doing such a good job as of late that their lack of presence hasn’t hurt the team anywhere near as much as many first thought. Why is this good? Because it means both players can ease their way back to full fitness without the pressure of having to play at 85% and risking injuring the same muscle again.

Cedric Thornton returned to the field against the Saints which was lucky after everyones favourite “Bair” was suffering from a groin injury he sustained against the Redskins. Brandon Bair was once again absent from training today, but with the position now a lot stronger in terms of depth, again it gives him time to recover fully.
