Eagles finally work out Offensive Lineman 3 other free agents

We reported earlier that the Philadelphia Eagles were set to work out free agent tight end and former Raider Richard Gordon. According to Bleeding Green Nation, the Eagles actually worked out three more free agents at the Novacare Complex..one of whom was a tight end.

The man in question is Brian Folkerts, a Center who joined the Saints as an undrafted free agent in 2012 and spent two seasons with the Panthers starting at Center, Guard and contributed on Special Teams. The former Washburn player was waived by the Panthers in September after nursing an ankle injury he had suffered during pre-season.

The Eagles worked out another tight end in Cameron Clear, an undrafted member of the 2015 draft class who came out of Texas A&M. Clear can run a 4.92 and at 6’5, 277 pounds..is definitely physical. He has a huge frame and demonstrated his ability as a blocking TE at Texas.

Gerald Rivers was the final man to get worked out today and after most recently spending time with the Giants, the 22 year old played in two games for the Rams in 2013 before moving around various practice squads. At 6’2 and 250 pounds, again he certainly demonstrates a physical edge..and perhaps with Vinny Curry having to help out at OLB, would aid the DE’s with the current injury scenario.

People were wondering why the Eagles were trying out tight ends and the answer is simple. Ertz is much more of a receiving TE and both himself and Celek combined for 10 targets in yesterdays win. But the tight-ends being worked out are incredibly physical and blocking tight ends..nothing is official but IF signed, could well be used in the Offensive Line.
