BREAKING: DeMarco Murray likely to play against Jets

Despite missing practice on Thursday due to a tweaked hamstring, it’s now widely speculated that Philadelphia Eagles running back DeMarco Murray will indeed play against the New York Jets this Sunday.

We waited a while to report on this issue in case of another scenario where conflicting reports emerge, but all signs are pointing towards Murray taking some snaps against the Jets. Murray sustained the injury on Wednesday and left the session early to undergo tests. Chip Kelly revealed that the injury was just a tweak and nothing serious..but we still didn’t know how deep the injury was.

Murray played with a lot of heart against his former team but ultimately fell short of an impressive game. The elite running back has just eleven yards rushing on 21 attempts.

If DeMarco isn’t 100% coming into the game, we have already established that the inclusion of Ryan Matthews and Darren Sproles (perhaps even pre-season stand out Kenjon Barner) could be a breath of fresh air to the Offense due to the styles the backs like to run. Whereas Murray is a north-south runner currently running sweep plays out of the shotgun, the other backs are a lot more versatile.

Regardless of predictions or views however, Murray looks as though he may not miss that much time at all. Whilst he might not start or finish the game, expect him to take between maybe 5-15 reps at most just to ensure he can regain fitness without risking re-injury.
