Zach Ertz given green light to return to practice

Whilst his availability for the season opener against the Falcons is set to be a “gameday decision”, Zach Ertz has been given the green light to practice with his teammates this week.

Just because the tight end has been cleared to practice however, this doesn’t mean Chip will factor him in the non-contact exercises the team will undertake in preparation for September 14th.

Ertz suffered a core muscle injury during Training Camp and underwent successful surgery on August 14th. He didn’t participate in any of the pre-season games and it’s speculated that he will return to the lineup for week 2/3 as there is no point risking a much bigger injury occurring.

Ertz is set to be a key player for the team after such a productive 2014 season and the birds would be smart to ensure that he is 100% fit for his return. Either way, this is a very promising sign for the Eagles 2013 second round pick. If he does return to practice, he has a chance to try and get match fit in a relaxed environment as opposed to finding out he’s been made active week one and going into a live situation with his last hit coming a month beforehand.

The next Eagles training session is on Wednesday so it will be interesting to see if he will feature. The Doctors have given the green light, but will Chip?
