BREAKING: Chase Utley traded to Dodgers

It’s official. After a solid month or two of speculation and various rumours, the Phillies have agreed to trade Chase Utley plus allocation funds of $2 million to the Dodgers in return for two minor league prospects. Whilst not yet official, both sides are said to be in agreement.

The deal is expected to be for mid level prospects and is a huge surprise to everyone. Despite LA being his top choice, the Angels, Cubs and Giants were all submitting various offers for the second baseman. He was not in the starting lineup on Wednesday’s game against the Blue Jays, just to add some security to the trade.

The 36-year-old  has a .217 batting average  with five homers this season. He’s found 30 RBIs in 73 games this year.

Chase Utley is expected to go down in history as one of the all time greats in Philly, having spent his entire 13 year career with the team. In the process, he won a World Series back in 2008.
