Kamu Grugier-Hill, a linebacker of the Philadelphia Eagles who led the team in special teams tackles during their Super Bowl winning season, has posted an emotional statement on social media, pleading with friends, family and followers to donate to a very urgent cause.

Here’s Kamu’s statement taken from his GoFundMe page which you can access here:

PLEASE help support my family in this desperate time of need!!! This is very personal to me as my family, their two children along with their 3-week old new born baby lost their home in Leilani Estates on the Big island of Hawaii from the volcano.  Lava has completely surrounded the entire estate.  My family was forced to leave most of their belongings behind and will have to start over, relocate since the lava is now permanent and my family is now forced to find a new home!

Any donation will help and from the bottom of my heart, I want to THANK ALL OF YOU who are helping with this cause.

If you are unable to donate, it would be greatly appreciated if you could re-post this to your social media network to help my family get back on track!

Mahalo Nui Loa!

Kamu Grugier-Hill, #54 Philadelphia Eagles

What’s been really inspiring to see is that some of his teammates have already donated. Nick Foles donated $2,000 while Jordan Hicks, Joe Walker and Jake Elliott all opened their wallets for an incident that I’m sure none of us could even comprehend going through. You can never be prepared for something as life changing as this, but through the beauty of social media, we have the power to make a difference and help Kamu and his family get back on their feet and find a new home.

Even if you can’t donate, you can share the link below or simply retweet Kamu’s petition here.

Kamu played a huge role in bringing the City of Brotherly Love its first Super Bowl. Let’s show him what Brotherly Love is all about with an outreach of support so grand and warm in a time that must be so devastating.
