Beau Allen posts emotional statement on Instagram confirming his Eagles departure

Free agency is upon us which unfortunately means it’s a transitional time for many. For the 14 free agents who were on the Eagles Super Bowl winning roster, their future may not be in the City of Brotherly Love as the cost of winning takes center stage.

Defensive Tackle Beau Allen’s fate was arguably sealed with the announcement that the team would be signing 5-time Pro Bowler, Haloti Ngata, to a one-year deal. The former Wisconsin star took to Instagram to give a special message to the City of Philadelphia.

It's crazy to think I got to Philadelphia 4 years ago. Thank you to the entire Eagles organization for giving me a shot. Thank you to the coaches and staff that have helped mold me into the player and person I am today. Huge shout out to the city and the fans! Thank you for embracing me and showing this dude from the Midwest what it means to be from Philly! I put a lot of sweat and blood into the game of football during my time in Philadelphia and was rewarded with a Super Bowl Championship and memories that will last a lifetime. I can't say enough about the teammates and brothers I've shared this experience with, I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world! Philadelphia will always hold a special place in my heart and I will always share a special bond with my brothers that brought the Lombardi to Philly. Excited to see what the future has for me!

The move is a little upsetting for Eagles fans. Prior to last season, reports of a negotiation between Allen and the Eagles surfaced with regards to a contract extension. But then the defensive tackle suffered pectoral injury working out and while UDFA’s stole the show, the team traded for Timmy Jernigan. Allen made it back in time for the regular season and performed adequately, but those talks never re-opened.

There will likely be a competitive market for Allen, who has registered¬†53 tackles and 2 sacks since being drafted in the seventh round by the Eagles in 2014. His future is certainly bright and it’s safe to say both Beau and his golden locks will always be remembered for his role in the greatest Eagles season in history.
