The Eagles are entering a wild offseason following their first Super Bowl victory. With 13 pending free agents and a lack of cap space and draft capital, offseason moves are almost inevitable. But who should stay and who should go? This series will provide a position-by-position breakdown.

Carson Wentz:
GO. Only kidding, there is no way on this earth that the Eagles would even remotely consider trading Carson Wentz. The second-year quarterback emerged as not only an MVP candidate, but a truly elite signal caller with a tremendous upside. The most valuable player on the team is also the most exciting. With three years remaining on his rookie deal, it’s going to be a thrill ride for Eagles fans as the pride of North Dakota State continues to develop both on and off the field.

Verdict: Stay

Nick Foles:
This is an interesting one. The Super Bowl MVP led the Eagles out of a week 14 hole where all hope appeared to be lost. While his return as a starter was bumpy to begin with, the performance on the grandest stage of all inspired hope that he can still be a franchise quarterback. An outstanding performance that has been described by many as perfect, Foles delivered a remarkable playoff run and in the right system could be invaluable to a quarterback starved team.

Attention will be at an all-time high and it’s safe to see that the Eagles will be inundated with offers. The question is, will Foles want to stay? Bearing in mind that after being traded to the Rams to be their answer at quarterback, he wanted to quit football following a poor season, he would have to step into those same boots again with the weight of expectation that could only be placed on a Super Bowl MVP.

Then, there’s the Eagles’ argument. Without a 2nd or 3rd round pick, they could use some extra assets, but after seeing how valuable a competent backup quarterback truly is, will they be open to flipping him?

This is truly up in the air and with so many variables it’s tough to predict one way or the other. One thing is for sure, expect the unexpected when it comes to Howie Roseman.

Verdict: Who knows?

Nate Sudfeld:
Nate ‘the great’ could be a permanent fixture in Philadelphia, especially if the Birds’ do decide to move on from Nick Foles. Sudfeld showed some relative promise in the week 17 loss to Dallas, moving the chains efficiently but struggling to find the end zone. Pederson has preached developing a QB3 since his arrival in Philadelphia and we can expect a fourth name to be thrown into the mix as the draft passes…but as things stand, Sudfeld is likely here to stay as an insurance policy.

Verdict: Stay
