Feeding off the Eagles Super Bowl win: Looking back on a historic week in Philadelphia sports history

The Eagles are the best football team on the planet. What a surreal sentence to write. The city of brotherly love needed this experience. I was lucky enough to be a small part of the beautiful day that was Thursday, February 8th 2018 and I can truly believe that it was one of the best days of my life. Of course, as with any mass gathering of human beings, there were the random few who had too much to drink, disrespected the city’s property or couldn’t resist getting into physical altercations with their fellow Eagles fans. But, I can honestly say that those people in no way represented the group that made their way to the parade route that day.

The amount of love that could be felt through those streets was infectious. People of all creeds and backgrounds came together for no other reason than the fact that their affection for their city was so strong that they needed to share those feelings with their fellow Philadelphians. What a day… what a day.

The Eagles aren’t the only team in the city tasting success! Since the Lombardi trophy was placed in Jeffrey Luries hands, both the Flyers and Sixers haven’t lost a game. The 76ers have went 3-0 in that span and are currently the 8th seed in the Eastern Conference. They’re one of the hottest teams in the league and are poised for a playoff run for the first time since the 2011-12 season. It’s hard not to get on board with the youth movement that’s taking place for the historic NBA franchise. #TrustTheProcess is spreading like wildfire.

My beloved Flyers are a cool 4-0 since the birds brought home the hardware. The veteran leaders are producing at breakneck paces and the team’s young studs are finally showing their true potential. The team has climbed all the way to 3rd in the Metropolitan division and their playoff dreams are looking more and more realistic with every passing day.

A perfect 8-0 record, the Phillies are starting to set up for training camp in Florida and a championship trophy is calling Philadelphia home for AT LEAST the next year? I’d say this has to be one of the greatest times in history to be a sports fan in this great city. The future is so bright and I’m so excited to share the greatness that’s in store for us with all of you.
