According to Field Yates and Adam Caplan, the Eagles have made their first futures signing of the year. Surprise, surprise, it’s a player with connections to the current front office.

A seventh-round pick of the Bears in 2013, Wilson has battled injuries throughout his career, including three foot injuries in two years with Chicago that led to his release. He will be hoping that some greener pastures present a new opportunity and another shot to make a roster.

A broken clavicle hampered his sophomore season, but it didn’t stop Wilson from bouncing back and catching his first touchdown against the Saints in December of that year. One year later however is where things get interesting. The 6’3, 194 lbs, wideout received for 464 yards (with 102 of those yards came against the Broncos in a game of career-highs) and a touchdown in 2015, averaging over 16 yards per catch. It would come as no shock that Wilson’s best season came under the tutelage of none other than current Eagles WR Coach, Mike Groh.

A former teammate of Alshon Jeffery too, Wilson was also a member of the Bears organization at the same time as Joe Douglas too. Most recently however, the Washington State product was released by the Jets after spending the offseason just up the road from the Eagles. Wilson caught 3 passes for 20 yards in preseason.

Wilson has been signed to a futures contract which means he will be added to the 90-man roster when the offseason begins. The Eagles have kicked off proceedings by adding even more depth at an already stacked WR spot.
