Woooooo!!! Welcome, Flyers fans to another great session of the Weekly Mailbag. It’s been the, “Most wonderful time of the year,” as we embark into another new year. With Hanukkah and Christmas in the rear view mirrors, it’s time to start thinking ahead to the future. It’s becoming a common theme these days for the Flyers. Same old story, another late comeback falls short. After another slow start doomed the Flyers last night against the Florida Panthers. Why shouldn’t we think ahead to the future of Flyers prospects?
With all the great prospects flooding the Flyers farm system. 2018 should be an attractive year for the orange and black. It will be interesting to see which ones will be with the big club throughout any portion of the new year. However, let’s save that topic of conversation for another day, as we give our answers to our weekly mailbag.

Barry with the throwback. Love your humor. I remember the Evander Holyfield vs. Mike Tyson fight like it was yesterday. On the night of June, 28, 1997, I couldn’t believe what transpired. At first I thought it was a joke. What great fighters they both were, but Tyson will be forever known as the biter. It’s unfortunate for Tyson to carry that title, as he was one of the greatest boxers in my lifetime. Great post Barry and happy new year.
Mark Boehmer- How soon before Carter Hart is the Flyers goalie?
Great question from a great Flyers fan like yourself Mark. Carter Hart is on quite a tear right now in the WHL for the Everett Silvertips. For the season, Hart has registered a 1.32 GAA, .961 Save Percentage, and 5 shutouts, en route to a 13-3-1 record. Moreover, he is proving to the world during the World Junior Championship why he is the goaltender of the future for the Flyers. Hart played in the first game against Finland, and backstopped Canada to a 4-2 victory, while making 29 saves.
Hart will make his debut in for the Lehigh Valley Phantoms in 2018-19, and I will go on record now saying he will be the starting netminder between the pipes. He has accomplished almost everything he can in the WHL. Hart will be 20 years old at the start of the AHL season next year, and this makes him eligible to play for the Phantoms next season. The Flyers will be patient with him, but realistically Hart may start playing for the Flyers in the 2019-20 season at the earliest.
