Philly Sports Network roundtable: Can Eagles overthrow Derek Carr and Raiders on Christmas?

Merry Christmas from everybody here at Philly Sports Network. The most amazing day of the year for many could turn out to be even more so if the Eagles churn out a win against Oakland a little later this evening. Will they be able to? It’s time to ask our writers.

Oohhh the weather outside is frightful. And for a West-coast Oakland Raiders team, that doesn’t bode well. The Eagles boast the league’s top rush defense and despite a faltering secondary in recent weeks, Derek Carr has forced most of his traffic down the middle in the form of tight end Jared Cook. Nick Foles is starting his first game at the Linc since 2014 and the home field advantage should be enough for the Birds to wrap this up comfortably. The offense will fire on all cylinders and if it comes down to a shootout, it will be an Eagles defense that finds warmth on the coldest of nights. A roar from the Philadelphia faithful and an esteemed pass-rush should be enough for the Eagles to seal a home field advantage throughout the playoffs.

Merry Christmas Eagles fans!!! After you’re done opening all your lame gifts, all the things you’ll never use or wear, you get to enjoy the gift we all really want…the Eagles wrapping up home field advantage with a win over the Raiders! I say the Eagles defense steps up in this one. They were kind of embarrassed last week as a unit and could take it out on a Raiders offense that has been banged up and inconsistent. Foles will be more comfortable a week after playing an entire game and the offense will still put up points.  The home crowd will be frothing for a win. Santa will be pelted with snow balls, but for fun this time. The Eagles will deliver a W. Couldn’t ask for a better Christmas!

It is going to be a very cold Christmas night in Philadelphia. I believe the running game for the birds dominate this game along with a 1 touchdown pass from good old St. Nick. Santa brings all the Eagles fans their last present this Christmas, home field advantage!
