Philly Sports Network Roundtable: Can Eagles overthrow Giants with Foles at the Helm?

It’s here. The first day of the Carson Wentzless era for the Philadelphia Eagles. A short trip down the I-95 sends the Birds into hostile territory for a showdown with the Giants, but will the Eagles prevail with Foles making his first start since November last year? Let’s ask our writers…

Liam “Cup of Tea” Jenkins: 11-1
Many will expect the Eagles to pound the rock and control the tempo, helping Foles by lifting pressure off his shoulders. The truth of the matter is that without Wisniewski, the left-hand side of the line carries a huge red flag. The Giants will sniff blood in the water and if Pederson is conservative, may likely be punished for it. Expect play-action shots and a lot of confidence in the arm of Foles. The Eagles should comfortably win this game as they prepare themselves for the very best that the NFC has to offer in the postseason.

Tyler “The need for” Steege 9-2
The Giants are a bad football team. Eagles defense has a chance to dominate Eli Manning today.

Eagles 24 Giants 10.

Chris “Has the best sounding name of any of our writers” Coviello 9-2
Game 1 of the post-Wentz tenure starts today when the Eagles go to the meadowlands to take on the Giants. Luckily Philly gets an easy test out of the gate in what’s sure to be an adjustment period for not only the offense but the entire team. If the Eagles win today they clinch at least a bye in the playoffs so there is certainly a lot on the line. I expect the Eagles to run the ball heavily today with a big dose of Jay Ajayi to keep things balanced for Foles. The defense should be able to easily shut down New York’s lackluster offense.

Austin “The new-new guy” Connelly 1-1
Philadelphia rolls into New York and will go up against the league’s second worst team. Foles needs to prove that he can execute this offense and keep the Birds rolling to secure that #1 seed. Even without Wentz the Eagles should be able to easily handle the Giants.
