If you haven’t heard already, Carson Wentz is a pretty special quarterback. Leading the NFL in touchdowns, the Eagles signal-caller is enjoying a historic sophomore year. That’s reflected in his Pro Bowl votes…and he isn’t alone.
Wentz now has 422,491 votes to his name…the most of ANY player in the NFL. Tom Brady sits in second place with 370,379, and LeVeon Bell behind him with 360,129. This is the second consecutive week that Wentz leads the polling and deservedly so. The Eagles quarterback has thrown just 5 interceptions all season long and has a rating of 104. Making some beautiful throws downfield, catching defensive linemen off guard with hard counts each and every week, and leading his team to glory, as Wentz goes, the Eagles go. The NFL also released positional leaders in both the NFC and AFC. Wentz is joined by four Eagles teammates in the polling so far.
TE Zach Ertz leads all NFC tight ends with 238,809 votes while both Lane Johnson and Jason Kelce lead their respected positions. How Brandon Brooks isn’t on this list worries me considering that he has allowed just one sack since joining the Eagles prior to the start of last season, but hey!
A surprise addition to the list is linebacker Kamu Grugier-Hill, whose 47,346 votes lead all NFC special teamers at this stage. KGH not only leads the Eagles in special teams tackles, but has been invaluable when asked to step in for the injured Jordan Hicks. Oh, and a Kicker…he also replaced a kicker.
The 2018 Pro Bowl, which kicks off at a new start time of 3:00 PM ET on Sunday, January 28, will be televised live from Camping World Stadium on ESPN and ESPN Deportes and simulcast on ABC. Players for the game are determined by the consensus votes of fans, players and coaches. Each group’s vote counts one-third toward determining the 88 All-Star players who will be selected to the Pro Bowl. NFL players and coaches will cast their votes on Friday, December 15.
During the final week of 2018 Pro Bowl voting – December 7-14 – fans will be able to vote directly on Twitter. To cast such a vote, fans should tweet the first and last name of the player, or the player’s official Twitter handle, along with the hashtag: #ProBowlVote.
