Ben Simmons flashes sign of things to come with athletic dunk during pregame warm ups

Despite everything Bryan Colangelo and the rest of the Sixers’ front office tells you, Ben Simmons is healthy. So much so, he’ll show you himself. During pregame warm ups for last night’s game against the Pacers, Simmons showcased just a taste of why he was the number one pick in last year’s draft with an athletic dunk off coming off the backboard.

I can’t help but think about the 2015 video of Embiid doing the same and cringe a bit, but it does give some hope that the end is in sight for his recovery. The move seems effortless and it doesn’t look like he’s experiencing any pain. As Rhea Hughes said on WIP 94.1 this morning, “He looks completely healthy.” This seems to be yet another case of the Sixers’ front office telling us one thing, while evidence points to another.

It remains to be seen what news the team will have coming out about his recovery in the coming weeks and whether it contradicts what we can see with our own eyes. Simmons was shut down for the entirety of his rookie season but is expected to be ready for a full workload for the 2017 season.
