As if we hadn’t had enough to digest today, there might be one key free agency storyline left to unfold..and it just so happens to be the biggest concerning the Philadelphia Eagles.

According to Josina Anderson, Alshon Jeffery “is leaning towards” choosing the Eagles when free agency officially starts in just a couple of hours time.

After being the front-runners in the race to land Brandin Cooks, the Eagles have somehow been able to jump ship and find themselves looking to acquire the top receiving talent that free agency has to offer.

The other team said to be in the mix is the Indianapolis Colts. Both teams have a franchise quarterback that they’re looking to build around and both crave a perennial star. If Jeffery is leaning toward the Eagles, the Colts will need to act fast if they are to entice a change of heart.

After signing Torrey Smith to a 3-year deal worth $15M earlier today and releasing Connor Barwin, the Eagles have already started their bid to build around Carson Wentz. Smith is the perfect low-risk, high-reward receiver, who comes with a wealth of experience, production and potential..along with the nod from Joe Douglas and Andy Weidl who watched him succeed in Baltimore. However, Smith isn’t the star that the Eagles covet, whereas Jeffery, if affordable..could be exactly that.

There isn’t long left to wait, but for Eagles fans, it’s going to seem like an eternity.
