Goalie Coach Jeff Reese leaves Flyers

With just 17 games left in the regular season, the last thing we expected from the Flyers was to see goalie coach Jeff Reese announce a mutual release from the team.

Steve Mason goes into his most important game of this season as the Flyers face the Boston Bruins..the team they need to surpass in points totals to make the playoffs. Currently 4 points behind, a win would reduce it to just one going into the final stint of the season. A goaltender can change the course of a game in an instant, and Mason will have to change tomorrows course without his coach.

Reese, replaced Reggie Lemelin, back on June 25, 2009, after ten years with the Tampa Bay Lightning which saw him lift a Stanley Cup back in 2003-4.

Mason joined as a Flyer working under Reese, and was able to resurrect his career and become an invaluable asset to the team.

So, as we go into the most important part of the season, Mason is without the man who has guided him to his successes and achievements thus far. Will this affect the Flyers come tomorrow night?
